never enough

We try to exist
subsist
persist

resist?

on bread
alone.

and why not?
look at this loaf.

glorious bounty
straight from the Tempter’s oven

crunchy
chewy
savory
sour

and
oh
so
filling.

you’d think it would be
enough.

but it’s not.

even the best bread
is
never
enough.

the Son of God knew that,
and I’m certainly not Him.

so I enjoy a varied diet –
literally
figuratively
spiritually
emotionally
physically

and Live.

Luke 4:3-4
3 The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become a loaf of bread.” 4 Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone.’”

  1. My youthful response toLuke 4:3-4 was,

True, bread alone is not enough…

    … without peanut butter.

    😉

    Lovely insights here. Thanks!
