simple holiday
barely known by Jews today
first wheat harvest feast
fifty days after
the last major holiday
passover had come
now we share this day
Christians have a day to say
shalom – and then some
peace and love for sure
but also fire and power
flames alight – a sign
best kind of burning
holy zeal to build a Church
Jesus at the base
all else will be chaff
really – what would Jesus do?
His Spirit Informs
I sit with Jesus
and wait in my upper room
for enlightenment
flames burn hot today
and yesterday – and days before
I pray for fire – pure
with shalom.
