Sonnet II – hope’s lament

I fear that I shall never live to see
a world that’s lived the way her God designed
the Church has failed to find the will To Be
the treasure Jesus-seekers hope to find
perhaps it seems impertinent to judge
but obvious to me – at least – no fruit
is borne to cause the hungered soul to budge
the ones who ought to see and say – blind/mute
yet I, for one, refuse to give up hope
I’ll bolster hearts of those who give a damn
and in the process offer those a rope
who may still pull from fruitless lives – their sham
I cannot give up hope though oft it fades
the Church must stop this playing at charades
