It was good to know
I wasn’t with
an abecedarian dinner partner
a Sasquatch of Syllables
a Caveman of Conversation
I just can’t handle dumb
I know that’s elitist
or something-ist
sorrynotsorry?
Let me rephrase
If we’re gonna hang,
you gotta hang with me –
vocabulary and all
And when I spoke,
when I constructed thoughts
and transformed them to words
I didn’t have to turn the dial down
on any one
of my myriad fears.
in fact, I turned it up.
Matching his dry wit
and biting sarcasm
is the stuff nerd dreams are made of
He finds me interesting.
Fascinating, even.
So, all of you out there
dying to hang with me
or him
(I know there must be SOME)
turn up your dials
we
need
the
challenge.
or you’ll never get in.
This is the first of TWO Stream of Consciousness posts today, because I misread the prompt:
I only read the first sentence (so ashamed), so I looked up a word I didn’t know instead of a word I need to look up to spell.
Trying to think of a word I need to look up to spell will be more difficult. If there is one thing in my life of which I’m supremely confident, it’s my ability to spell – intuitively even (hey, some of us have to hunt for things we’re proud of in ourselves).
#SoCS number 2 will be coming shortly.

I like your misadventure in post #1. Very nice! I had the same issue with finding a word that I always need to look up, so I linked to an old blog post and a word that used to cause trouble. Writing about it seems to have helped. 🙂

That’s why poetry, prompts, and all that’s rolled up in the process is SO GREAT. Misadventures often lead to the best outcomes.
