glow, little insect
brighten the darkest of nights
even for a flash
sometimes one burst is enough
turns black mood a lighter hue
bug of mystery
bioluminescence – duh
don’t be a buzzkill
I’ll dream it’s somehow magic
science will not steal my joy
exercising heart and mind, lest I waste away
glow, little insect
brighten the darkest of nights
even for a flash
sometimes one burst is enough
turns black mood a lighter hue
bug of mystery
bioluminescence – duh
don’t be a buzzkill
I’ll dream it’s somehow magic
science will not steal my joy
I enjoyed this and how you brought out the magical spirit of the firefly.

I really like these poems. They have a bright spirit, like the firefly.

Thank you! I’d like your opinion. I almost separated this into two separate tankas, not sure if they totally went together. Thoughts?

My pleasure 😇
I like the complementary nature of them both in the same post. The second one is more of a Kyoka, a five-line poem analogous to senryu, but it still works.
Thank you for sharing!
