Sonnet XXII – adieu to much ado

Sonnet for a Sunday (#SFaS) on a Monday.
Life happens.

I’ve heard that stupid is as stupid does
So I am done with “doing” stupid now
The man I am is not the man I was
By no more “was” – I mean I do not bow
I’ve taken charge – control what’s in my pow’r
Beyond control? I give it to the fates
I see my future only hour by hour
E’en if that means that part of me still waits
Wait for what? The bitter pill to swallow
I never know until the day arrives
Just commit to take what comes to follow
This one alive today no longer strives

All striving set aside is peace anew
It’s time to say adieu to much ado
