last night’s dream
a field of lamps.
dark, no hope of light,
unless a plug I found.
I could not.
the search in vain.
plugs I found – all wrong.
the darkness did confound.
then despair;
forever dark?
will glow e’er be seen?
still darkness all around.
friends appeared
and family, too
they handed matches
struck with light-giving flame
all at once
lamps came to life
void of power source
I don’t know how it came
but it did
and all were lit
burning in the night
dark fled like shame – the same.
