transition

wisps of potential
precipitation
occlude
the sun’s rays,
goosebumping
my flesh
which was recently warm.

they persist
longer than this poet
planned,

and he’s really not dressed
for the cold.

certainly
if he waits long enough
change will come
again

and all will be
as it should be.

Cloud and Azure Sky

poet’s note:

My first lines were initially “black-bottomed clouds, pregnant with precipitation, will carry me soon from dryness to wet”. Then I saw Patrick’s title for the photo (“Clouds and Azure Sky”)and realized what I was seeing as dark clouds was actually a deep blue sky.

Sometimes you don’t even know what you are looking at until someone tells you what to see.

Interesting, that.

The Pic and a Word Challenge is (usually) a weekly creativity prompt offered Mondays.

  1. <smile> The challenge does say to use the photo and/or word as inspiration. Which means if you are inspired by one or both to write about black-bottomed clouds then, by all means, do so. I’m often not particularly concerned about matching the image painted by my own poems to the photographs which inspire them. 😉

I like both versions of your poem though, to be honest, I’m kind of on a darkness kick the past year or two, so I like the image of a black-bottomed cloud … a lot. 🙂

    1. I’m always on a darkness kick, but SOMETIMES I can find light, too. This poem was not one of those times.
