more than a policy

the best one

it is the key
for opening doors
locked
up
tight

for years
or lifetimes.

sometimes
what lies behind
portals with padlocks
will scare
you so much that you think
you will die

but fear subsides
or it doesn’t –
no matter

you still want them open
I want them open

We
need
them
open

closed doors are perfect
for keeping the peace
and for keeping the pieces
of us that need
light and air
in stagnant darkness

why in the
world
would we not use that key

and take a deep breath
in the sunlight?
