should be sleeping

though I really should be sleeping
leaking mind just keeps on seeping
keeping thoughts within me leaping
as I’m mentally scorekeeping
and the calculator’s beeping
at the cost of life’s peacekeeping
just what it is that I’m reaping?

I am reaching a plateau.

so I forge ahead, unfearing
feeling anger, sadness, nearing
in the end will find a clearing
if I keep on persevering
in this kind of pioneering
and while some persist with sneering
there are others near me cheering

And that’s all I need to know.
