Art
in abstraction
allows you to see anything
or nothing at all

by Emily Kohns
Today
I See Something
I See the frothing sea foam
reach for the beach
blanketed in the purple-pink
of railroad vine
Morning Glories
in the sand –
Convolvulaceae
If I’m going to see,
I’m going to see in Latin
sometimes.
Speaking of which:
Kyrie eleison
For just beyond
the floral festoon
Mercy is what we need.
Even in the beauty
of rich orange and red,
steady decay
is evident.
Faaaaaar to the right…
Smokestacks?
Plumes from
unintended
detonations?
Does it matter?
Cough.
Boom.
Beauty and horror
live on the same tile.
This is the second poem in a triptych based on this piece of art:
