“Then I go out at night to paint the stars”
said Vincent
to his brother.
Swirling and whirling
with a dangerous life force,
An energy from epochs past,
Arriving to enjoin us
in its perilous dance
long after the light itself
is dead and gone.
Now, we go inside
to experience the
past
painter’s
present.
To revere the work
of a presumed lunatic,
dead by his own hand
before anyone
got to see
his light.
the last words he ever spoke,
“The sadness will last forever”
Somewhat like his
now
beloved stars.

Oh! Impressive word choices. Sadness too.

I don’t find I’m capable of writing without finding a little sadness someplace. And isn’t that life?

This is very beautiful, Ben, like Vincent’s starry night… and Oh so sad. He was brief, but brilliant, like a nova.
