NaPoWriMo – Day 9
Today, we’d like to challenge you to write your own sonnet. Incorporate tradition as much or as little as you like – while keeping in general to the theme of “love.”
I feared a love-filled sonnet ne’er could be;
For though I’d felt it, words would not align.
Or maybe true love veiled – it hid from me;
Spent too much time just fitting “God’s Design”.
I labored – fiercely – work it was to craft
The loving others wanted me to live.
E’en though I’d hearth and home – I felt a draft;
And warmth from others’ lives would not forgive.
But then a certain somethingness did grow
Beneath my feet and far above my head.
Began to doubt the things I used to “know”
And peace-filled myst’ry thenceforth calmly led.
I write of love now – some I dare not share;
Else blushing cheeks forever I shall wear.
