Never Say “No” to Angels

Yesterday…
all my troubles seemed so…
LIKE A BOOT ON MY NECK
(apologies to Lennon and McCartney)

If you’ve read my posts in the last week, you’ve probably noticed I’ve sort of been at the end of my rope:

I’m Sailing!
Sonnet XIX – Meant for Play
like butter – #SoCS

Then I was visited by an Angel.
Literally,
Figuratively,

You decide.

Someone I hadn’t connected with in several months “checked in” on me. Hadn’t read my posts. Didn’t know what I was going through. Just… Checked In.

It was “coincidental”.

Yeah – use that word if you want to…

After I used the words “danger zone” about 4 times in 4 minutes, the Angel convinced me (after 3 polite refusals – this Angel must have had some sales training…) to meet for coffee instead of going home to an empty house.

Starbucks – the Angel bought. The Angel got a $2 tea – I got a $5 latte.

This is a good Angel.

I had already taken the day off due to an inability to function effectively, but the Angel was supposed to be at work.

Yeah, some Angels have jobs like the rest of us.

Instead, the Angel made me a priority, despite my protestations.

Have I mentioned this is a good Angel?

Within an hour, I had gone from a clenched, arms crossed, breath-holding mess to feeling like I had a plan to move forward – even if only in baby-sized steps.

Later, the Angel came and helped me clean my house.

Yes, really.

I tried to politely decline that as well.

The Angel persisted (as Angels are wont to do).

Why do we push against the things we need the most?

Why do we push against the things we need the most?

Acquiescing was the best thing I’ve done in a long time.

Never say “No” to Angels – they show up for a reason…

  1. Once, I was going through a rough time at work and personally, and an Angel met me for lunch at Panera in Frandor. I’d never been there before, but I enjoyed it. My Angel was kind, understanding, a good listener, and wise, and my Angel prayed for me also. I’ll never forget that sunny afternoon and my brush with an Angel.
