I come to warmth from cold which reigned supreme

I come to warmth from cold which reigned supreme
So many parts of flesh were starved of air
I’m waking from a nightmare to a dream

So deep in ice I could not hear my scream
Then lights from other somewheres heard my prayer
I come to warmth from cold which reigned supreme

Water, light, and air doth all redeem
Without all three the Earth is sere and bare
I’m waking from a nightmare to a dream

A raging torrent from a trickled stream
It courses down the mountain free of care
I come to warmth from cold which reigned supreme

Perchance you see in “That to This” a theme
A change is wrought, and I must dare compare
I’m waking from a nightmare to a dream

Now hoarfrost melts to liquid dew agleam
From blades and leaves the sun’s reflected glare
I come to warmth from cold which reigned supreme
I’m waking from a nightmare to a dream
